We are extremely grateful for all donations (large or small) to the maintenance and upkeep of the Parish, its online services (including this website), and its buildings. For those who wish to contribute to St Augustine’s parish, there is a button below which will allow you to donate directly to us:
More Ways to Donate
There are various other ways you can help to fund our Parish, including:
Standing Orders: Many parishioners set up a standing order with their bank to make a regular payment to the Parish. Please contact us (email below) for further details and to let us know, so that we can allocate donations.
Envelopes: If you prefer to make your offering via a weekly envelope, these can be arranged for you at any time (please email us for more information).
DONA - Digital Collection Plate: The use of contactless payments is on a steady increase in the UK, and the addition of a donation terminal towards the back of church, enables you to donate without having to hunt for cash, which a high proportion of people generally don’t carry around much today. The terminal is relatively easy to use, and you can also pay for items purchased in our Piety Shop or donate to second collections.
Cash Donations: Basket collections are made at both of our Sunday services, although we endeavour to keep cash donations to a minimum – please see GIFT AID section.
Offertory: We include a file in our Offertory Procession which goes up onto the altar with the baskets to represent the offerings of those who pay by regular payments or DONA. That way all our donations will be presented to God as part of the Offertory collection.
Leave a Gift in your Will: Please consider donating to the Parish in your Will and ensure that worship continues at St Augustine’s for future generations.
Gift Aid
A very important contribution to the Parish finances is made via the Gift Aid Scheme. This enables the Parish to claim an extra 25p for every £1 donated at no extra expense to you…
Provided you pay tax on your salary or pension in the UK.
Only if you pay by standing order, envelope or via the DONA machine so that contributions are recorded.
Common Myths about Gift Aid
You don’t have to be paying a lot of tax to join the Gift Aid Scheme – only sufficient to cover the basic rate tax the parish will reclaim.
You don’t have to commit to paying a fixed amount each week. You decide how much you wish to contribute as and when you are able (using weekly envelopes or the DONA machine).
You can leave the scheme at any time – just let the Parish know.
It’s completely confidential - you don’t need to tell anyone your level of income.
It won’t cost you anything if you are a basic rate taxpayer and if you are a higher rate taxpayer you can benefit from further tax relief when you complete your tax return.
It will not make it any more likely that HMRC will examine your tax affairs.
To start using this scheme, please email us to receive a Gift Aid Registration Form. In the case of DONA terminal donations, please complete the details on screen the first time you use it. Each subsequent use with the same card and where eligible, gift aid will be registered.
