Welcome to St Augustine's, a Catholic Parish in the centre of Darlington. No matter who you are, you are welcome in our parish! We are here to give glory to God through prayer, song, and action. We are blessed to have a beautiful church where we gather most days, particularly on Sunday, to listen to the Word of God and to celebrate the sacraments. God calls us to share our faith with others which we do through preaching, faith formation and sacramental preparation. We also share our faith by being here for those in need and accompanying those who struggle. Through a variety of social events, and making space for everyone, our community becomes a growing, caring and expanding family. You are welcome to join us!
World Day of Prayer for Peace
1st January is the World Day of Prayer for Peace. In his message for this occasion Pope Leo XIV writes, "Peace exists; it wants to dwell within us. It has the gentle power to enlighten and expand our understanding; it resists and overcomes violence. Peace is a breath of the eternal: while to evil we cry out “Enough,” to peace we whisper “Forever.” Into this horizon the Risen One has led us." He then cites St Augustine of Hippo who said, “If you wish to draw others to peace, first have it yourselves; be steadfast in peace yourselves. To inflame others, you must have the flame burning within.”

We congratulate all the young people who were confirmed at St Thomas's and St Augustine's this October. A great sign of the vitality of the church and of the Holy Spirit at work among us.
"I love everything about this parish. There are two masses on Sundays, 09:00 in the morning and 18:30 in the evening. Very thoughtful and accommodating."

"Beautiful church and really friendly Priest. Wonderful congregation (so very many on a Sunday... proving the church is alive and very well!). Really inventive in dealing with the pandemic and allowing us all to worship remotely through livestreams. Bless you all!"
