Easter Vigil 2026

Following the ancient liturgy we began by blessing the Easter Fire and lighting the Paschal Candle.

Lumen Christi

Once lit we sang the first Lumen Christi (Christ is our Light). We then move in procession, the People of God led by Christ their light.

As we came into church the congregation lit individual candles from the one flame taken from the Easter Fire. They filled the church with light and in this light we sang the ancient Easter hymn and proclamation, the Exultet.

"... let this holy building shake with joy,

filled with the mighty voices of the peoples ...

"This is the night,

when Christ broke the prison-bars of death

and rose victorious from the underworld."

Baptisms

We celebrated four baptisms.

Receptions and Confirmations

We also received twelve people into full communion with the Catholic. These and two others were then confirmed and later received holy communion for the first time.
